These air fryer carrots with cajun spice and aioli will surprise you, in the best way.

I started making these air fryer carrots when I wanted a side dish with a little more personality than what I’d normally throw together. A little cajun seasoning, nutritional yeast for a savory kick, and 15 minutes in the air fryer turned plain carrots into something my family actually asks for. The aioli takes it up another notch, but the carrots hold their own even without it.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- Ready in about 20 minutes, start to finish
- A delicious way to get more veggies on your plate
- A lighter, less greasy alternative to regular fries
- The aioli doubles as a dip for other snacks and sides
Let’s get started on this tasty recipe!
Here’s everything you need to make our Spicy Cajun Air Fryer Carrots.
The first step is to peel the carrots and remove the ends. Then cut them into “sticks,” giving them a french fries shape.
Next, mix the olive oil with cajun seasoning, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper, and mix with the carrot sticks.
Cook the carrot sticks for 15 minutes in a pre-heated air fryer.
While the carrots are cooking, make the aioli mayonnaise by blending all the recipe ingredients until smooth.
When the carrots are done cooking, you’re ready to enjoy your spicy carrots with aioli dip!
Recipe Notes
- No cajun seasoning on hand? Smoked paprika with a pinch of cayenne works as a swap.
- Nutritional yeast adds a savory, slightly cheesy flavor, but you can leave it out if you don’t have it.
- Mayonnaise can be swapped for Greek yogurt in the aioli for a lighter version.
- Garlic can be adjusted up or down depending on how strong you like the aioli. Start with less if you’re not sure.
Appetizer or Side Dish
These spicy air fryer carrots are flexible enough to serve two ways. Pile them on a platter with the aioli in the center for dipping and they work as an appetizer for game day or a get-together. Or keep them on the dinner plate as a side dish. They hold their own next to something hearty like grilled chicken, burgers, or a steak off the grill. The cajun kick also plays well alongside anything with a little smokiness, so barbecue night is a good fit too.
More Ways to Use the Garlic Aioli
Don’t let leftover aioli go to waste, it’s good on more than just carrots. Try it with:
- Sweet potato fries or regular fries
- Roasted potatoes
- Raw veggies like bell peppers, cucumber, or celery
- Burgers or sandwiches in place of regular mayo
- Grilled or air fried chicken tenders
- Crab cakes or shrimp
Tips for Storage & Reheating
- Store leftover carrots in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the carrots are cooked through and crispy. The microwave works in a pinch, but they’ll be soft.
- Store the aioli separately in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Give it a quick stir before serving.
