It can be difficult to keep self-care in mind when you work from home. That’s why we’re sharing seven work-from-home wellness tips that can help you care for your health while working remotely.

Work-From-Home Wellness Tips

In the age of remote working, some of us find ourselves trading our daily commute for staying firmly planted in front of a computer screen at home. Though this setup can be more comfortable and efficient, it can also lead to less physical activity, less social interaction, and difficulty maintaining boundaries between work and home life.

Without realizing it, you might start to neglect your well-being when your home and office are one and the same. Today, we’re going to talk about how to take care of yourself when working from home.

By incorporating a few wellness habits into your daily routine, you can improve your energy level and productivity while enjoying the benefits of working in your own space!

Work-From-Home Wellness Tips

Create a Comfortable Workspace

The first thing you’ll want to do is set up a comfortable workspace. It’s important to have a dedicated area that is free from distractions and comfortable to work in.

This means having a desk that’s large enough for a computer or laptop and any other work-related items you need. Make sure to have a comfortable chair and good lighting. And if you’re able to, invest in an ergonomic setup, since this can help prevent physical strain or even injury.

A pair of quality blue light-blocking lenses are also becoming a must-have accessory for anyone working in front of a screen. The artificial blue light emitted from our computers, tablets, and phones can cause discomfort and long-term damage to our eyes. Make sure your lenses offer 100% protection against both types of UV rays as well as the harmful high energy visible (HEV) blue light emitted by devices.

Establish a Routine and Stick to It

When it comes to work-from-home wellness, don’t underestimate the importance of creating a daily routine. It will allow you to better manage your time and organize your tasks so that each day looks different from the last. It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of working all day, every day, without taking breaks or having time for personal activities.

For me, this means setting specific hours for work with short breaks throughout the day. This not only helps me stay on track with work, but it also ensures that I have time for things like exercise, hobbies, and spending time with family and friends.

Once you’ve established a schedule for yourself, hold yourself to it. It’s the best way to stay on track while maintaining a good work life balance.

Take Regular Breaks

Sitting for long periods of time can be detrimental to both your physical and mental health. That’s why it’s important to get up and move during the day.

This can mean taking a quick walk around the block, doing some stretches, or simply standing up and moving around. Taking breaks and shifting your focus away from work for short periods can help you get back to your tasks feeling refreshed and better able to concentrate.

Stay Active Even if You’re Working from Home

Although it can be difficult to stay active if you’re stuck at home, there are still plenty of ways you can get in some exercise. And, if you think about it, that’s one of the benefits of working from home–you have more control over your schedule. So, why not use that as an opportunity to incorporate more physical activity into your day?

Maybe you’ll want to make time for a quick morning run or walk or do a short workout. Take an afternoon break, and do some light yoga or pilates. These are activities that require very little space or equipment.

Not only does staying active throughout the day help keep you physically fit, but it also helps you stay mentally sharp.

Stay Hydrated

Next up on our list of work-from-home wellness tips–stay hydrated. It can be easy to forget, but drinking enough water is essential for your overall health and well-being.

I always keep a water bottle nearby and make a conscious effort to drink water throughout the day. And if you’re like me and need a little flavor, adding a slice of lemon or cucumber can make all the difference!

Work-From-Home Wellness Tips

Stay Connected

One of the downsides of working at home is that it can be isolating and lonely at times. That’s why it’s important to make an effort to stay connected with colleagues, friends, and family.

You can do this by scheduling regular video calls with friends and family and using messaging apps to stay in touch with colleagues.

Thankfully, there are many ways to reach out virtually to maintain relationships. With a few clicks or taps on your device, you can instantly see a face that’s miles away, or join online communities and forums with members who share similar interests or values.

And, of course, make time to get out and socialize in person too!

Practice Self-Care

Finally, it’s important to prioritize self-care when working from home. This can mean different things to different people, but for me, it means taking time to do things that I enjoy, like reading a book, having a cup of good tea, or getting in some exercise.

It also means making time for mindfulness practices like meditation or yoga. Don’t forget that taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.

Every small step can lead to a healthier lifestyle–from creating a comfortable work space to protecting your eyesight with blue light glasses, setting a schedule, making time for physical activity, and connecting with others–it all adds up!

Start implementing these work-from-home wellness tips today, and you’ll be on your way to improving your physical and mental health–and creating a better work life balance.
