Hey there, beach lovers! Are you planning an amazing beach getaway?
Whether you’re heading out on a quick weekend trip or a long, relaxing vacation, packing for the beach can be both exciting and overwhelming. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
We’re sharing our top tips and must-haves to help you get set for your beach trip. From stylish swimwear to that all-important sun protection, and some things you might not have thought of, we’ll make sure you have what you need for a fun-filled and relaxing getaway. So, grab your suitcase, and let’s get started!
What to Pack for Your Beach Getaway
1 & 2. Swimsuit and Cover-up
When it comes to packing for the beach, swimwear is definitely at the top of the list! And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love picking out a fun new swimsuit?
You’ll also want to make sure you have a cute cover-up. My personal favorite is a flowy beach dress that can double as a cover-up, perfect for a beachside dinner.
3. Journal
It can be hard to appreciate a moment until after it’s passed. A smart way to remember your beach memories is by writing them down in a journal. When you go home and are reminiscing about your good times at the beach, you can glance back at your writings to remind you of the special moments that are often forgotten.
4. Headphones
The best way to tune out the noisy beach and the annoying family beside you? Headphones (or earbuds). When you’re relaxing on your beach towel or in your cabana, pop in your headphones, and enjoy your favorite music or listen to a podcast.
5. Sunscreen
It cannot be stressed enough that sunscreen is a necessity, no matter how badly you want that golden tan. Not only is it incredibly painful getting burned, but even a single burn can increase your risk of getting skin cancer. Luckily, there are lots of sunscreen options to choose from–for your face, body, for kids, and more!
6. Beach Towels
This is, by far, one of the most essential items on any beach getaway packing list. After a dip in the ocean, drying off before the sand sticks to you is very important. Plus, you can use your big beach towel to lie in the sun and put your feet in the warm sand.
7. A Good Book
Getting lost in a great book is the best feeling in the world. A beach getaway give you the perfect opportunity to hunker down in a comfy beach chair and dig into that mystery novel or romance you’ve been meaning to read. You have time to yourself, and reading relaxes the mind–plus it’s acceptable if you doze off in the warm sun!
8. Your Cell Phone Charger
It seems obvious, but people are always forgetting this small, but vital item. Nobody wants to arrive at their vacation destination with a dead phone. Your phone has so many uses, and stopping to buy a new charger and then waiting for the phone to charge back up is a major inconvenience.
Lately, I’ve been traveling with one of these portable charging banks. They’re super convenient, and some will even charge two phones at the same time. Just remember to make sure it’s fully charged before heading out.
9 & 10. Sunglasses and a Sun Hat
You do not want to be caught in the blazing sun without…well, sunglasses. I like to pack a spare pair too, since they tend to get misplaced.
A good sun hat is always nice to have along too. If you get one with a large enough brim, it can protect your face and the back of your neck from the sun. I like the hats with the adjustable cord that keep the hat from flying off when the beach is windy.
You’ll want to look for a sun hat that will keep its shape when packed in a suitcase or stuffed into your beach bag.
11. A Water Bottle
Trust me, you do not want to forget to pack a water bottle(s) for a day at the beach. Not only will packing your own water bottle keep you hydrated and refreshed, but it will also save you from having to buy overpriced water when you get there.
Plus, it’s better for the environment to bring your own reusable bottle instead of buying plastic bottles.
If you’re feeling fancy, you can even fill it up with some delicious fruit-infused water before you head out.
12. Beach Bag
To hold everything you’re taking to the beach, look for a lightweight beach bag that has room for your sunscreen, book, beach towel, and snacks.
Of course a waterproof bag is a must, and even better, look for a bag with mesh panels so avoid bringing home so much sand!
13. Flip Flops
Finally, don’t forget your flip flops. A comfy pair of flip flops is a must to keep from burning your feet on the hot sand.
Conclusion
A beach getaway is definitely something to look forward to. Having a checklist and making sure you pack everything you need will help ensure your trip will go smoothly.
