Who else loves the homemade tortilla chips you get at some restaurants? It’s amazing how much better they taste, isn’t it? Well, today we have a super easy air fryer tortilla chips recipe, so you can enjoy those homemade chips anytime!
Air frying these chips makes them so crispy and delicious, and I love that we can forget about deep-frying and all the grease that comes with it. This recipe has only three simple ingredients:ย
Tortillas — Use white or yellow corn tortillas for the crispiest chips. If you prefer, you can use flour tortillas, or a low-carb variety.
Salt — Use your favorite salt, like a coarse sea salt, or just table salt works too.
Cooking spray — If you don’t have cooking spray, lightly brush the tortillas with a little olive or avocado oil before cooking.
Easy Air Fryer Tortilla Chips
It really couldn’t be easier to make your own tortilla chips, just like those delicious chips you get at the restaurant! It starts with your favorite tortillas. We prefer corn, for the crispiest, most authentic taste.
Next, use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the tortillas into equal slices, or “chips.”
Next, spray chips lightly with cooking spray, salt, and arrange the chips in your air fryer basket, leaving room for air to flow around the chips.
Cook the chips according to the recipe below. Keep an eye on them to make sure they don’t burn. (I like mine extra crispy!) Add a little more salt if needed.
Serve your warm homemade tortilla chips with some freshly-made salsa, guacamole, or queso. Here’s an easy recipe for homemade salsa with avocado, or make our hearty beef queso dip. Hummus and spinach dip would be perfect to serve with these chips too.
Try these recipe variationsย
These yummy chips don’t need anything but salt, but if you’d like to do a little experimenting, try a nacho cheese seasoning, or make them into a “dessert” with cinnamon and sugar.
Baked tortilla chipsย ย
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can still make these chips–in the oven. Just prepare them according to the recipe below, but instead of air frying, spread them in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for five to seven minutes. Then flip them over, and continue to bake for another three minutes or so, or until they’re a crispy golden brown.
How to store air fryer tortilla chipsย
I’m guessing your chips will be eaten pretty quickly, but air fryer tortilla chips can be kept for up to two weeks at room temperature when stored in a Zip-loc bag or another air-tight container.
