Jump to RecipeToday we’re sharing a simple recipe for a chickpea galette with ham and sweet potatoes. You can easily customize this recipe to your own taste if these fillings aren’t your favorite. Feel free to spice it up a bit, or add in other veggies.
What is a galette?
A galette is just a freeform or rustic pie (just the bottom crust) baked on a flat surface, and it can be savory or sweet. The edges of the crust are folded over to hold in the ingredients, but there’s no need to make it fancy.Â
Galettes can also be filled with veggies and cheese or fruit, like a traditional pie. You can make single-serve mini galettes too. After you try our chickpea galette, experiement with your own recipes.
Chickpea Galette with Ham and Sweet Potatoes
For our chickpea galette recipe, we assembled these ingredients. The sweet potatoes have been pre-cooked.
Next, we put the chickpeas and sweet potatoes on a pie crust. Note that we are not using a pie pan. Use a pizza pan or large cookie sheet.
We rolled strips of ham, as seen in the photo, and added them to the chickpea/sweet potato mixture.
Before baking, we added green onions, and then folded the edges of the pie crust over as you see in the photo.
Finally, bake the galette until golden brown, and enjoy!
