How She Came Home

Rosie was found at the zoo one morning by an employee. The person who found her fostered her, and working with a local humane society, made sure she was healthy, and ready for a new home.

We adopted Rosie when my sons were 12 and 15 years old. They’re young adults now, and of course, Rosie’s been a huge part of their lives.

What We Love About Rosie

Here’s what we love about Rosie. She is crazy about her walks. We call them “adventures.” Even as she slows down a bit, just the word “adventure” gets her so excited she can hardly sit still long enough to get her leash on. 

Something else that’s sweet — she does all her tricks the moment the treats come out. We don’t even have to ask. She just launches into sit, shake, and lay down, covering all her bases to make sure she gets that treat!

She’s the guardian of the backyard. She has no interest in alerting us to strangers at the door — she loves every person she meets. But frogs or possums in the backyard? She takes this very seriously and makes sure we know.

She sleeps on our bed and is scared of thunderstorms and fireworks. (Even the bravest backyard defender is afraid of something.)

And the older Rosie gets, the more I appreciate her unique personality — and the more I want to make sure I’m doing right by her.
