Hard boiled eggs in the Ninja Foodi or instant pot? Yes! In fact, this will probably become your favorite way to make them.

Instant Pot / Ninja Foodi Hard Boiled Eggs

Instant pot/Ninja Foodi hard boiled eggs cook fast! They’re easy to peel too. I think this is the easiest and absolute best way to make the perfect hard boiled egg.

Now there’s no reason not to enjoy them anytime. Think deviled eggs, hard boiled eggs to top your salads, egg salad sandwiches, a nutritious addition to breakfast, or just for snacking with a little salt and pepper.

Let’s take a look at the easy “recipe.”

Here’s everything you need to make Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi boiled eggs—just eggs, water, and ice.

Instant Pot / Ninja Foodi Hard Boiled Eggs

You can wash and dry your eggs before cooking if you’d like. Then add the water to the pot.

Next, add the eggs in a single layer to the bottom of the pot. Cook according to recipe directions below.

When the eggs are finished cooking, put them into an ice bath for 10 minutes to stop the cooking process.

Your eggs are ready to peel and enjoy however you like them!

Recipe Tips

  • You’ll get better results using room temperature eggs. To keep eggs from cracking, just remove them from the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before cooking.
  • You do not need the water to cover the eggs. It just needs to be about halfway up the eggs.
  • Adjust the time as needed if your eggs are larger or smaller. Increase cooking time by a minute or two if you’re using extra-large or jumbo eggs. Reduce cooking time if needed for small or medium-sized eggs.
  • An ice bath is one of the best ways to ensure the eggs will peel easily after cooking. However, you can also add a teaspoon of baking soda to the cooking water as that may help.
  • Farm fresh eggs often do not peel easily, but the ideas we’ve listed will help.

Serving Suggestions

Hard-boiled eggs are a terrific source of protein and can be eaten so many ways. Here are some ideas:

  • Eat them with a little salt and pepper as a snack or addition to your breakfast
  • Make egg salad sandwiches
  • Use on your garden salads
  • Add them to your favorite macaroni or pasta salads
  • Enjoy on toast—even better with avocado
  • Add to a charcuterie board like this one
  • Use in potato salad
  • Make deviled eggs
  • Make Cobb salad
  • Make a couple of batches for Easter eggs!

How to Store Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs should be stored in their shells and will be good for up to seven days if kept in the refrigerator.

How to Reheat Instant Pot / Ninja Foodi Hard Boiled Eggs

Reheat refrigerated hard boiled eggs by putting them in a bowl and pouring boiling water over them until completely submerged. Cover the bowl. Let the eggs sit for about 10 minutes, and they’ll be heated through.

Instant Pot / Ninja Foodi Hard Boiled Eggs

Prep Time 1 minute minute
Cook Time 15 minutes minutes
Chill time 10 minutes minutes
Servings 13 eggs, depending on the size of the pot

Equipment

  • 1 Ninja Foodi or Instant Pot

Ingredients

  • 13 eggs
  • 1 cup water (or more to cover eggs about halfway)
  • ice

Instructions

  • Wash and dry your eggs, if desired.
  • Add the cup of water to the pot.
  • Place the eggs in one layer, in the bottom of the pot, making sure to not stack them on top of each other. (Note that the water only needs to cover the eggs about halfway, so add more water if needed.)
  • Place your instant pot or Ninja Foodi on manual/high pressure and set the timer for 5 minutes. It will take it about 5 minutes to pressurize, and then it will start the 5-minute cooking countdown.
  • Let the pot naturally release for 5 minutes before manually releasing and removing the eggs.
  • Fill a bowl big enough to hold the eggs, with water and some ice.
  • Immediately place the eggs from the instant pot or Ninja Foodi into the cold water. Leave for 10 minutes to stop the cooking process.
  • Peel, and enjoy!
