galaxy's edge for first time visitor

Star Wars fans, Galaxy’s Edge is finally open! You can live out your own Star Wars story, fly the Millennium Falcon, and become immersed in everything Star Wars. Before you make your first visit to the Star Wars planet Batuu, check out our Galaxy’s Edge guide so you can get the most out of your Star Wars story.

The whole point of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge is the incredible level of immersion. Disney has gone to great lengths to make the new land as interactive as possible so you can be part of the story. Besides the details in the architecture and the types of merchandise and food available, Disney relies on an app to let you take part in the unfolding events on Batuu. The Datapad you will use throughout the land is accessible through the Disney Play app which is free to download.

Pick a Side

Black Spire Outpost was a port settlement long passed over with the advent of hyperdrive. It became a place for rogues and scoundrels to lay low when they didn’t want to be found. Now, with the Resistance in the nearby forest and the arrival of the First Order, Black Spire is poised for conflict. When you go to Galaxy’s Edge you will get to set up your profile in the app and choose: Resistance, First Order, or Scoundrel. This will impact the way your story in Galaxy’s Edge unfolds.

Check In For Popular Experiences

Some experiences have proved exceptionally popular at Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland, so this Galaxy’s Edge guide is based on what has happened there. Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop have been slammed with guests who want to experience the cantina atmosphere and build their own lightsaber. At Savi’s, don’t be surprised if the Gatherers are out of scapulas metal by the days end. It’s best to drop in early. This shouldn’t be a problem because Galaxy’s Edge is a great morning destination, with breakfast menus and even morning cocktails at Oga’s. For both locations you should check in to get a text message when there is room available in the queue.

Oga's Cantina

When guests visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, they’ll be able to enjoy Oga’s Cantina – a local watering hole to unwind, conduct business and maybe even encounter a friend or a foe. Patrons of the cantina come from across the galaxy to sample the famous concoctions created with exotic ingredients using “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels, with choices for guests of all ages. At Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, guests will be able to build their own lightsaber, guided by ancient wisdom but crafted by the choices they make on their own adventure. Each build will begin with a personal connection to a kyber crystal used to ignite the custom lightsaber. Photo credit: David Roark/Disney Parks

Millennium Falcon

The Millennium Falcon attraction is a popular new ride that puts six guests in the cockpit of the legendary ship. You will be assigned as either pilot, gunner, or engineer. Then you will have to perform those tasks to successfully finish the Smugglers Run. The motion Simulator reacts in real time to the controls. The attraction will have Fastpass as well as Single Rider, which is a great way to get onto the ride more quickly by filling in an empty seat. The attraction has a minimum height requirement of 38.”

Inside Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Disney guests will take the controls in one of three unique and critical roles aboard the fastest ship in the galaxy at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge open now at Disneyland Resort in California and opening Aug. 29, 2019, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Black Spire Marketplace

There are three main sections of Galaxy’s Edge. Resistance Forest and the First Order encampment are outliers. The bulk of the action happens in the marketplace where there are seven shops and five food and beverage locations. The merchandise is mostly local goods in a style that follows the internal logic of the Galaxy’s Edge story. Three of the shops are very high end. Droid Depot has a $100 droid building experience and building a lightsaber at Savi’s will run about $200. Look out for Easter eggs and fun details all around as you explore the marketplace and the dining locations.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Guests will discover innovative and creative eats from around the galaxy at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a designated location for traveling food shuttles. Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs is in much demand for his culinary skills, so he moves from site to site in a modified Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport that becomes a mobile kitchen and restaurant. what to expect at Star Wars Land

Guests can build their own personal droids at Batuu at Galaxy’s Edge.

At Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers, guests will have the opportunity to customize and craft their own lightsabers. In this exclusive experience, guests will feel like a Jedi as they build these elegant weapons from a more civilized age. Photo credit: Joshua Sudock/Disney Parks

At Black Spire Outfitters, you can purchase clothing to create your own galatic style.
