We know that LED bulbs save money over time, but they can be expensive initially. Luckily, there are lots of ways to get LED bulbs and energy conservation kits absolutely free.
My electric company, Duke Energy was offering free LED bulbs not too long ago, and I was surprised when I received mine to see how many they sent.
As of the time I’m writing this, they are not offering free bulbs, but you can shop for bulbs on their site at heavily discounted prices. (The prices beat what I’ve seen in the stores or online.)
You can also receive rebate offers from Duke when you buy energy-efficient appliances.
Of course, there are many other gas and electric companies, as well as some non-profits, that have programs offering free energy conservation kits and light bulbs. Below is a list of some of them in order by state name.
If you don’t see any programs here that work for you, check online or make a phone call to your utility company. Ask about energy conservation kits that include free LED bulbs and other ways to save.
