Texas Toast Sloppy Joes

Doesn’t everyone love a good Sloppy Joe? This hearty and satisfying sandwich is something many of us grew up on.

But, what if I told you that you could take this classic to the next level? That’s right! When you use Texas Toast instead of a plain hamburger bun, you get so much more flavor.

The thick, buttery slices of Texas Toast are the the perfect way to hold all that saucy, meaty goodness.

These Texas Toast Sloppy Joes are absolutely packed with flavor and are definitely going to become a new family favorite.

And, almost as great as the taste, is how simple these are to make! This is a terrific recipe for busy weeknights or anytime you want to serve something hot and filling but are short on time. So, let’s get to this easy recipe.

Here’s everything you need to make this Sloppy Joes on Texas Toast recipe. As you can see, we’re making things easy with Texas Toast from the freezer aisle of the grocery store and a can of Sloppy Joe or Manwich sauce. (I happen to love the ready-made Manwhich sauce, but you can always make your own Sloppy Joes “from scratch” if you prefer.)

After preparing the Sloppy Joes, put your thawed pieces of Texas Toast onto a baking sheet.

Texas Toast Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef Browned
  • 1 Can Sloppy Joe Sauce
  • 1 Cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Texas Toast Slices thawed, not frozen
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. Brown the ground beef, drain, mix in the Sloppy Joe sauce, and heat through.

  3. Put as many slices of thawed Texas Toast as you'd like on a baking sheet.

  4. Top the Texas Toast slices with the Sloppy Joe mixture.

  5. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Place in the oven for 6-8 minutes, or until cheese has melted and bread has toasted.
  7. Serve, and enjoy.

Recipe Notes

If you don't have time to thaw the frozen Texas Toast, bake it for just a few minutes to thaw and soften it before adding the Sloppy Joe meat mixture.

You can use cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella if you prefer it.
