PetSmart is throwing free Halloween parties for pets this month, and every store is participating. There are three dates, and the trick-or-treat days come with a free Halloween tote bag if you get there early. Here’s everything you need to know.
PetSmart Tricks for Treats: Saturday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 25
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days
Cost: Free
Bring your pet in costume (or not, since costumes are encouraged but not required) and walk the store collecting free treats at stations throughout. Here’s what’s included:
- Free treats for pets at stations around the store
- A Halloween photo area with a festive backdrop and props
- Coloring pages and sticker sheets for the kids
- A free Halloween PetSmart tote bag for the first 50 attendees, while supplies last
Money-saving tip: The tote is first come, first served, so plan to arrive close to 10 a.m. if you want one.
Meet the Spooky Pets: Sunday, Oct. 18
When: Noon to 2 p.m.
Cost: Free
This one is new this year and is a great free outing for kids who love creepy crawlies. Families can meet specialty pets like snakes, spiders, and death-feigning beetles and learn how PetSmart associates care for them. The featured animals vary by store, so your location’s lineup may be different.
Bonus: PetSmart Halloween Costume Contest
After the event, share a photo of your pet’s costume on social media with #PetSmartHalloweenContest plus one category hashtag: #MainCharacter (solo costume), #BooCrew (pet with a toy, friend, or human), or #SpookyScene (a spooky scene built around the costume).
Winners get Treats Rewards savings: $500 for each of three grand prizes and $250 for each of nine runners-up. The contest ends Oct. 26 and is open to ages 18+.
