Friday, September 18, 2026 is National Cheeseburger Day, and that means it’s time to let someone else handle dinner (or lunch, or that 3pm snack attack). Major chains roll out freebies, BOGOs, and deep discounts every year to mark the occasion, and 2026 is no exception. We’ve rounded up the deals below so you can plan your burger run without any surprises at the register.
A quick heads-up before you go: most of these offers require a rewards account or the restaurant’s app, and participation can vary by location. We always recommend calling ahead or checking the app for your specific store before you drive across town for a free burger.
Where to Get Cheeseburger Deals on September 18, 2026
- McDonald’s: Score a FREE Double Cheeseburger with a $1 minimum purchase. This one’s exclusive to MyMcDonald’s Rewards members through the McDonald’s app.
- Burger King: Royal Perks members get a FREE Bacon Cheeseburger with a $3 minimum purchase on September 18. This is actually part of a full week of Perks Week freebies running September 14–20 — more on that below.
- Applebee’s: Get a Classic Burger or Classic Cheeseburger with fries for $8.99, available for dine-in or To Go at participating locations (order online or through the Applebee’s app).
- Dairy Queen: Rewards members can snag a FREE Single Original Cheeseburger Signature Stackburger with any online or in-app order of $1 or more. This one runs a little longer — September 14 through 18 — at participating DQ Grill & Chill locations.
- Buffalo Wild Wings: Buy one regular-priced cheeseburger, get a second of equal or lesser value FREE at participating locations. Just note it excludes lunch combo and kids’ menu burgers, and it can’t be combined with other discounts.
- Denny’s: Buy one Diner QP burger, get a second for 50% off.
- Wendy’s: Look for a $1.99 Dave’s Single through the Wendy’s app.
- Smashburger: SmashRewards members can get any Single Smashburger for just $1.
- Farmer Boys: Very Important Farmer (VIF) Rewards members can grab the Big Cheese Cheeseburger for $3.99.
Burger King’s Full Perks Week Lineup (September 14–20)
If you’ve got Burger King’s Royal Perks app, National Cheeseburger Day is really just one stop in a whole week of freebies. Here’s the full breakdown:
- Sunday, Sept. 14: FREE Rodeo Burger
- Monday, Sept. 15: Buy One, Get One FREE Whopper Jr.
- Tuesday, Sept. 16: FREE Croissan’wich
- Wednesday, Sept. 17: FREE Hamburger with $3 minimum purchase
- Thursday, Sept. 18: FREE Bacon Cheeseburger with $3 minimum purchase (National Cheeseburger Day!)
- Friday, Sept. 19: FREE 4-piece Chicken Nuggets
- Saturday, Sept. 20: FREE Original Chicken Sandwich
That’s seven days of freebies for one loyalty sign-up, which makes it one of the better fast-food perks we’ve seen.
A Few Tips Before You Go
- Download the apps ahead of time. Most of these deals (McDonald’s, Burger King, DQ, Wendy’s, Smashburger, Farmer Boys) are locked behind rewards accounts, so sign up a day or two early to avoid missing out on National Cheeseburger Day itself.
- Call your local location first. “Participating locations” is a biggie — franchise-owned restaurants don’t always opt in to national promotions.
- Watch the fine print on minimum purchases. A few of these “free” burgers require you to spend $1 to $3 first, so you’re not walking out with a truly free meal, but you’re still saving compared to menu prices.
- Some deals run longer than just the 18th. Dairy Queen’s offer starts on the 14th, and Burger King’s whole Perks Week runs through the 20th, so you have a little wiggle room if Friday doesn’t work for your schedule.
