Visit The Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina This Fall

North Carolina is one of the most beautiful states you can visit. I have been lucky enough to live here for the past several years. With the ocean at one end of the state, we love to take a summer beach trip every year if we can. In the fall, we try to visit the Great Smoky Mountains on the other side of the state. Having both the ocean and the mountains within driving distance is a luxury few people enjoy.

The mountains are at the eastern end of North Carolina and are gorgeous, whether you’re just driving through, planning a day trip or a hike, or taking a longer vacation. If you live in that part of the state, you’ll find that there’s so much to do at any time of year, but the fall is when the mountains are really breathtaking.

You can take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike the Appalachian Trail, or see some historic sites, and fall is the ideal time to plan your outing or trip. The weather shouldn’t be too cold, and the fall colors will be at their best. Just plan to take plenty of photos!

Asheville is also a favorite spot for travelers with the Biltmore Estate high on the list of tourist stops. Check out my visit to the Asheville area in this post, and go to VisitNC.com to plan a visit anywhere in the state.

Once you see these gorgeous North Carolina mountains, you may never want to leave! Do you plan to visit the Great Smoky Mountains? Or maybe you already have? Leave us a comment below.
