As a work-at-home mom for many years, I no longer need to “dress up” for work every day, and I love that! Comfort is important to me, but I do care about style too since I may be attending meetings at school, heading to an appointment, or just running errands.
So, what do I wear? prAna has been one of my go-to brands for some time, because they always have the perfect combination of style, comfort, and quality. When you think prAna, you may be thinking of yoga and fitness wear, but they are so much more! My most comfortable and well-fitting jeans are prAna, and I recently got the chance to review a pair of pants from the PrAna hemp clothing line.
I ordered the PrAna hemp beaker pants in black. And, once again, prAna did not disappoint. I LOVE the style of these pants. They are decidedly a step up from leggings, but more comfortable than jeans. The fabric is stretchy, but not tight, and moves with you so comfortably. This is the first piece of clothing I’ve owned made of hemp, and what really struck me was how light and breathable the fabric is. I think that has to be my favorite thing about these pants. If you’re wondering, even with the breathability of the fabric, it is not at all see-through, and doesn’t feel too thin.
I also ordered prAna’s patchwork sweater in khaki rose. It’s the perfect transition piece for fall. As the temperatures cool down, I’ll continue to wear it, even with the short sleeves. A turtleneck would work well under it in the coldest months. I see myself wearing this sweater often too.
I’m so happy I was able to add these two terrific pieces to my wardrobe. I’m not sure when (or if) I would’ve tried hemp clothing otherwise, and I would’ve been missing out! Hemp clothing is incredible for fall (and spring) because of its weight and the way it breaths. You can also feel good about how hemp is produced.
Thanks to its natural heartiness, hemp doesn’t require any chemical pesticides or fertilizers, which makes it’s safer for the farmers that grow it as well as the land it’s grown on. In fact, this drought resistant plant does wonders for the soil it’s grown in. Farmers who grow hemp are able to plant food crops in the same field immediately after harvest—something not possible with a lot of other crops.
Once hemp is processed into fabric, it resembles linen in a lot of ways. It’s lightweight and remarkably breathable. It washes well, and because prAna blends their hemp fabric with other materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, and spandex, it doesn’t wrinkle as much as linen does.
