Thinking about making some updates to your home? Or, maybe you’re looking to do a little DIY home maintenance. If you are, you’re not alone. Home improvement stores generated $566 billion worth of revenue in 2022 alone.
However, what do you do when you want to tackle one of these projects but also have to adhere to a strict budget? Thankfully, there are plenty of ways for you to improve your home without breaking the bank.
Home Improvement Projects on a Budget
Small Bathroom Remodeling
When thinking about an inexpensive home improvement project, renovating your bathroom is probably one of the last things that comes to mind. However, you donโt need to replace expensive pieces, like tubs and showers, in order to spice up your bathroom.
By making small adjustments and upgrades, you can completely change your bathroom while spending as little as about $600. Start by purchasing a new faucet and vanity top for your bathroom. Next, you can replace the builder-grade wall mirror.
You can even get creative, and purchase something unique, like a pull-out mirror or mirrored cabinets.
Finally, a coat of fresh paint will tie the room together. If done correctly, the project should only cost a few hundred dollars and should be able to be completed in a weekend or less.
Outdoor Remodeling
A friend of ours was recently looking at houses for sale, and her favorite one had one big drawback–a dry and boring outside area. Thankfully, this area of any home can be improved without undergoing much expense.
For example, you could purchase some plants to spruce things up. And, how about some solar-powered lamps to accent your plants or illuminate the walkway? Perhaps you can refinish your deck or fence for a fresh new look.
And, a new front door always makes a big impact. If you don’t want to replace the door, you can repaint or refinish your door, or simply add decorations like a knocker or a new handle. None of these projects will break the bank but all will have a positive effect on how the outside of your home looks.
Flooring
One of the most underrated parts of a room is its flooring. If done correctly, a nice carpeted floor or sleek hardwood flooring will catch your guests’ eyes as soon as they walk in.
Thankfully, if you want to upgrade one of your smaller roomโs flooring, you won’t have to sweat when it comes to cost. And, if your home improvement plan calls for new flooring in a larger area, there are less expensive choices to consider.
There are so many different type of flooring options nowadays, and all have their pros and cons. Regardless of what you choose, upgrading an old floor with a brand new one can do wonders for a home.
Although upgrading flooring may be more expensive than some of the other suggestions on this list, it is by no means an unattainable goal for your home improvement project.
Lighting
Adding some new lighting fixtures to your home can be a great way to improve the overall atmosphere. Studies show that the correct amount of lighting can actually improve moods.
There are many ways to enhance the lighting in your home. For example, you may just want to install a brand new ceiling fan with a light. Another option would be to install a fancy chandelier to spruce up your space. Regardless of your budget, the right lighting will definitely make your home more welcoming.
