If you liked our classic orange fluff recipe, you’re going to love this cherry fluff salad recipe too! It’s a deliciously fruity and sweet treat your family will ask for again and again.

This easy-to-make salad combines cherries, pineapple, whipped cream, and fluffy marshmallows into a light and flavorful dessert. It’s perfect for parties, potlucks, picnics, or to enjoy at home anytime.

What is Cherry Fluff Salad?

Cherry fluff is a vintage recipe that’s been around for decades. There are a few different versions of the recipe, but this one is my family’s favorite.

When I think of this salad, I think of family get-togethers, summer barbeques, and potlucks–where it was always a hit.

Just like our orange fluff, this cherry pineapple fluff has probably stayed so popular because it’s the ideal dish for sharing–it’s quick and easy to make, and everyone loves it!

How Far in Advance Can you Make Cherry Fluff?

This cherry fluff salad can be made a few hours in advance. Your salad may get a little soggy if you make it too much more ahead of the time you want to serve it.

If you do need to make it further in advance, or if you have leftovers, just give it a quick stir, and it will still taste fine.

Now, let’s get into it!

Then, add the remaining ingredients, and stir.

You can serve this cherry fluff salad immediately, or refrigerate it for an hour or so. That will give the flavors more time to meld.

How to Serve Cherry Fluff Salad

This delicious salad can be served as a side, and is the perfect dish to bring to any casual get-together or potluck. It’s also a great dessert or light snack to serve at home.

Cherry Fluff Recipe Tips & Variations

  • This recipe tastes best after being refrigerated for an hour or two. That gives it enough time for all the flavors to blend together.
  • When storing it in the fridge, you’ll want to give it a good fold over a few times, just to distribute the moisture more evenly.
  • Over the years, we’ve seen this recipe made lots of different ways. Some people like to use maraschino cherries instead of pie filling. You might also decide to add other ingredients, like sour cream, cottage cheese, or chopped walnuts or pecans. Don’t be afraid to experiment!
  • Adding sliced bananas is definitely a tasty idea, but you’ll want to add them right before serving, so they don’t brown.
  • The coconut in this cherry fluff salad is optional. People seem to either love or hate coconut, so if you’re not a fan, just leave it out.
  • After being stored a few days, the marshmallows will absorb the liquid and soften, so don’t be alarmed if this happens.
  • Be sure to cover your salad with plastic wrap before refrigerating, so it doesn’t dry out. And, do not freeze this salad.
