More and more we’re hearing about how a good night’s sleep is essential for good health. The older I get, the more I believe it, and if you have kids, you know you need a solid night’s sleep. Tossing and turning on an uncomfortable mattress all night means you’ll likely wake up feeling sluggish and go on to have an unproductive day.
I’d been looking for the right mattress for quite some time. My husband and I hadn’t been able to agree on whether to get a firm or a softer mattress. I also have issues with a sore neck if my mattress and pillow aren’t just right. Then, I was contacted by OtterBed (they have perfect timing) and asked to try one of their mattresses. After learning about them, I thought this might be the right mattress for us.
So, to cut right to the chase, we’ve been sleeping on our new bed for awhile, and we are loving it! I honestly have been raving about the OtterBed mattress. It’s been a little while since it arrived, and it’s just as comfortable as it was the very first night I slept on it.
How can I describe the OtterBed? I really wish you could lie down on one, but let me tell you what it IS and what it ISN’T (in my opinion). It is NOT a memory foam-type bed. I know lots of people like them, but I didn’t want one. I feel like they are too soft, and you sink too far into them. When you want to move, you’re kind of stuck. OtterBed is also NOT a traditional mattress, which can be too hard, and worse yet, on a cheap mattress, you can feel the coils! What OtterBed IS, is a perfect combination of everything you’ve been looking for rolled up (literally…more on that later) into one perfect mattress!
When you lie down on an OtterBed, you do sink into it (a little), but not so far that you feel you’re sinking DEEP into the mattress. It conforms to your body and supports you, but it’s still easy to move. It’s hard to explain the feeling of comfort and support you feel with the OtterBed. That feeling is even better if and when you have any kind of soreness or achiness!
The first night my husband and I slept on our new OtterBed, we woke up in the morning and looked at each other in amazement, like “What just happened?” We were absolutely shocked that we’d both slept through the night. Neither of us could believe that we’d slept so soundly!
When I went to OtterBed’s site, I learned why the mattress is so comfortable. You actually do get the best of both traditional coil mattresses and memory foam beds. Independent coil springs isolate movement so you don’t interrupt your partner’s sleep. The MicroPur™ foam breathes as you move. This air movement releases heat and moisture, leaving you with a cool sleeping surface. And unlike memory foam, you won’t feel that sinking feeling.
Here’s a little bit more about the company–OtterBed is online, and your bed will be delivered to your door after you order. That means there are no delivery people, and you don’t need to set aside a day to wait at home for a furniture delivery.
Your OtterBed is rolled tightly and arrives boxed. Once you unroll it and place it on your foundation, you’ll see it gradually expand. It’s ready to use in 30 minutes.
Below is my new bed in its box, what it look liked when it was still rolled up in plastic, and when it was first unrolled. You’ll see in the last photos that once it’s unrolled, it will expand.
By the way, we put our OtterBed on our existing box spring, but you can use this mattress on virtually any kind of platform, including on an adjustable bed.
Here’s how the mattress expands when you unroll it. Check out the before and after below. The first photo was taken shortly after unrolling the OtterBed mattress, and the second was taken later in the evening. Our dog, Rosie, finds our OtterBed very comfortable too.
Head over to the OtterBed site to learn more about this incredible mattress, check out the competitive prices, and the no-risk, 100-night sleep test guarantee. I know you’ll be impressed!
