Candied Almonds

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted almonds, raw
  • ΒΌ cup brown sugar
  • 3-4 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • pinch sea salt optional
  • crushed coconut flakes (unsweetened) optional

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 400 degrees, and line a small baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper (wax paper will not work).
  • Use a small bowl to mix together the brown sugar and maple syrup. Then stir in the almonds and optional coconut flakes. Make sure they are completely coated with the brown sugar and maple syrup.
  • Pour the nuts and sugary mixture onto the covered tray, and spread out into a single layer.
  • Optional, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt evenly on top of the almonds for a sweet and savory treat.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until the maple syrup and brown sugar is bubbling all over the almonds.
  • Let cool completely before enjoying.
