If you read my first post about The Feeling Buddies for Families Toolkit, you learned that it is a phenomenal resource for families. If you missed that post, you can take a moment to read it here, and learn more about how the toolkit teaches you to help your child handle their big emotions. This makes for a happier child and a more peaceful family and home.
Today, I want to tell you a little more about Feeling Buddies and how the toolkit works. First, I want to emphasize that this is a resource for all parents. You might have a child like my son, who has always been a child with “big emotions.” Every family can benefit from these resources though, since every family and every child experiences transitions and everyday ups and downs. From starting a new school, moving to a new house, getting a new sibling, or the death of a pet for example, The Feeling Buddies for Families Toolkit can help your child understand their feelings and move through them in a healthy way.
Your Toolkit includes “Feeling Buddies” (in their own carrying case) that help your child put a name to their emotions, along with a book that talks about each feeling, what it’s called, and how to work through it. This includes breathing, getting calm, going to place they feel safe, and more. The book is so well-written, with simple language your child will understand. The Feeling Buddies and book are an incredible combination.
Have your child work with their Feeling Buddies tools for small upsets too, and I think you’ll see fewer tantrums and meltdowns.
Be sure to check out the CD in your Feeling Buddies for Families Toolkit. The Listen to Your Feelings CD is additional tool we use on occasion. On those days when your child is feeling a little “off,” this CD is a good one to play, rather than having the television on. Your child will get some learning in without even knowing it!
Every child and family can benefit from the Feeling Buddies for Families Toolkit. Find out more here.
