This is what I gave some of my family members for Christmas after I had my DNA tested. It is so much fun and so interesting to learn where your ancestors came from based on your DNA results. And if you think you know everything, you may be surprised. I was hoping for a surprise, and I got a few.
Some things lined up perfectly with my family tree, but there were some big surprises. You’ll probably see, like I did, that most of us have all kinds of ethnicities from around the globe, which is wonderful!
I LOVE Ancestry.com for helping create a family tree too. They have so many incredible resources. One of my grandmother’s mothers was English, and using Ancestry, I found I have direct ancestors all the way back to the first kings of England. Unfortunately, royal titles were passed down only to men at that time, and my direct line is mostly through women, so I have no title–just a cool family tree.
I was also able to look at my ancestors’ records from the Civil War and Revolutionary War, not to mention census records, property records, wills, and more.
